Staff Who Ya Gonna Call? When You Have An Insured Loss: Call a Public Insurance Adjuster!
Are you upset at your insurance company regarding a claim? Are you frustrated about how slow your insurance company is moving? Are you getting in financial trouble because you have not received your claim check yet? Do you disagree with the settlement offered by the insurance adjuster or underwriter?
These are all very valid and very frustrating questions often asked by those who have experienced insured losses.
The Public Insurance Adjuster
Fortunately, most of us have never experienced any kind of insured loss and had to deal with an insurance adjuster or insurance company. However, that also means that most of us would not know what to do and would not know if we were getting fair treatment if we found ourselves going through a claim process.
The Public Insurance Adjuster can help. This information is not related to 1031 Exchanges, but is certainly applicable to real estate when you have an insured loss. We thought that it was important to let you know how you can protect yourself when you experience an insured loss.
Public Insurance Adjusters Represent YOU
Public Insurance Adjusters represent YOU. They do not represent the insurance company. They make sure that you are treated fairly, receive a fair settlement offer, etc. You can retain them immediately to deal with any new loss, or you can retain them to review a claim that has already been settled. State law varies, but most claims can be reopened within a two (2) year period after settlement. These are things that you may not be aware of, but the Private Insurance Adjuster can help you with.
Public adjusters assume all of the duties necessary to have your claim processed, including making an inventory of the loss and presenting your case to the insurance company. A good public adjuster has experience in the industry and will understand your contract and the company's responsibilities right down to the fine print. In exchange, a public adjuster receives a percentage of your claim. They get paid only if you get paid.
